Invisalign is one of the most requested dental treatments for adults and teens today. That’s because Invisalign offers a solution to the problem of needing braces but feeling that you are “too old” and would be embarrassed to wear them. Invisalign also solves several other problems associated with traditional braces, like discomfort, difficulty eating and difficulty in brushing your teeth.

Invisalign clear braces are not really braces but aligners that fit over the teeth and are removable.

You take them out when you are going to have a meal, so there’s no struggle to learn to eat with them in. You also remove them to clean them, and brush your teeth while they are out of your mouth. You do wear them while you sleep. You should wear them about 22 total hours a day for the best results.

Invisalign aligners are designed by Dr. Whitman to fit you properly and progressively move your teeth into proper position. As your teeth change, new sets of aligners will be made for you. You get a new set approximately every two weeks during your treatment. The total time of treatment varies by patient but averages about a year for adults; slightly longer for teens.

The name Invisalign refers to the fact that the aligners are clear, so when you are wearing them most people will not notice them. This makes them perfect for teens and adults. Invisalign is suitable for adults, and a special type, called Invisalign Teen, is suitable for teens and older children who have lost all their baby teeth and have their adult incisors and first molars.

Invisalign Clear Braces FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions people ask about Invisalign:

Can Invisalign fix any orthodontic problem?

No. Serious bite issues usually need traditional orthodontic treatment like braces. Invisalign works best for front teeth but it can solve many problems with crooked teeth, crowding and gaps.

Does Invisalign treatment cost more than braces?

Generally the cost of Invisalign is slightly higher than the cost of traditional metal braces. But the advantages of Invisalign are numerous, including comfort, ease of eating and brushing your teeth, shorter treatment time overall and the nearly invisible look.

I've heard that Invisalign treatment be completed in only six months. Is this true?

Typically the time is closer to one year, and for some people possible a few months longer. But in some cases treatment may be completed in six to eight months.
